Dirty Fridays 2026

This is an experimental ride for 2026 - an off-road night ride, leaving at midnight from Richmond Station in leafy South West London and heading to Guildford in leafy Surrey via mostly off-road routes. 

We’ll tackle a mix of fire-roads, double track and the occasional bit of singletrack as we wind our way through North Surrey and over, along and over (again) the North Downs with a smidge of the Greensand Way until we pop out into the Downs Link for a more sedate finish into Guildford and hopefully a view of the Sunrise. 

Halfway stop will be a picnic at a suitable viewpoint along the route, there is a 24 hour garage in Dorking with a night window which we will visit for anybody who has forgotten their picnic. 

A ride of approx 75km, with approx 900m of ascent (it’s hilly). 

Registration is limited:

• 18 people max (including 2 ride leaders) 

• Must have prior off-road experience (doesn’t have to be at night) 

• Must have ridden overnight before

• You will need GOOD lights  - at least 800 lumens, capable of running for at least 6 hours.   

• Please bring a bike with AT LEAST 40mm tyres. The route is suitable for Gravel bikes, Hardtail or Short Travel FS MTB. Don’t bring your 170mm travel DH bike -  there’s plenty of climbing.
