A longer ride down to the historic town of Rochester in the best traditions of the CycleChat Sunday London Rides of old. At a slightly faster but still comfortable social pace than the themed rides, only stopping to re-group, this will be just like a regular Friday’s night ride, but in the day time.
Leaving from The Lodge, Hyde Park Corner at 09.45, we’ll follow The Thames, crossing at Tower Bridge, then heading east via the World Heritage site at Greenwich, the magnificent Woolwich Arsenal and one of the best Georgian streets in the south (and a Friday’s favourite) in Gravesend before riding along the canal on our way into Rochester town centre. Our half way stop will be at Hall Place in Bexley (19.5 miles / 31km) where we’ll have coffee.
For those who need to get back to town from there, Bexley station is less than a mile away from the cafe. The rest of us will continue on to Rochester. A ride of 40 miles / 64km in total.
