Cardiff to Swansea: around 100km.
Depart: Cardiff Millennium Centre, by the docks. Arrivee: The Mumbles, Swansea.
Hills are definite, bring your climbing legs.
Our most westerly and most Welsh ride returns under the glow of a full moon. Departing from the Millennium Centre at midnight, we’ll ease out of the city, heading west towards the peaceful lanes of the Vale. Some of the route will feel familiar to long-time riders, but new sections promise fresh interest.
At the halfway point, a McDonald's stop is inevitable (not much choice there). In Bridgend, we’ve skipped the steep climb* but kept the exhilarating descent down Bog Road, through Llansamlet, and into Swansea, where the stunning bay awaits.
For a post-ride refuel, Wetherspoons opens at 8am, while The Secret Café on the beachfront welcomes riders from 9am.
Trains from Swansea are operated by GWR and require cycle booking.
*we think this might be the Col de Neath, but anyway we're not going up it
