Two day rides based out of Norwich over the May Bank Holiday
This is a 110km, 700m ride starting from Norwich, using some off road sections, to the coast at Blakeney for lunch around 12.45pm, then back to Norwich taking in some more off road sections.
Due to some of the off road being narrow, the max group size is six. If there are more committed to riding then I will arrange two groups, staggered depart.
It is an early start, we meet about 8am at Norwich station and head to the St Giles Bread Source for coffee, pastries and introductions. Head off by 9am, north eastwards out of Norwich.
We have mini regroups and pauses along the way, with stops to look at interesting things.
We may split the group on the return leg by the speed people prefer to go at. I like to push on at a faster pace from this point.
We're usually back in Norwich between 5.30-6pm.
Matthew’s handy description of the off road:
In summary, there's two long stretches of 'gravel'. One (about 10 km) is more like singletrack, quite narrow, with a fence on one side along the narrow gauge railway it follows. There are roots and sticks and if it's been dry, it’s quite loose. The other is about 25km, and is wider, more compacted, and generally much easier and therefore faster, though conditions vary along its length and there's some less well established bits. If you're used to riding on loose surfaces neither will pose difficulties.
This is a new day ride, with no planned off-road. The idea is to visit darkroom chocolate in North Walsham then head onwards to Cromer to the promenade for coffee.
Details to be confirmed but will be approx. 70-85km 600m, with a train back to Norwich. Alternatively we may catch a train to North Walsham or Hoveton, head to the coast from there, avoiding the escape out of Norwich.
